Join us for a dynamic Tri-Chapter Event hosted by CREW San Francisco, East Bay, and Silicon Valley chapters, where we will delve into the 'State of the Bay.' This engaging gathering will feature a lively discussion on the collective pulse of the Bay Area, as well as the unique characteristics and opportunities within each region.

This event promises a dynamic discussion featuring esteemed panelists, including City of Walnut Creek Mayor Loella Haskew, City of Sunnyvale Mayor Larry Klein, and San Francisco’s Office of Economic and Workplace Development Executive Director Sarah Dennis-Phillips. Sarah Mancuso, Director of Regional Leasing at JLL, will moderate the panel discussion.

Sarah Dennis Phillips

City of San Francisco

Sarah Dennis-Phillips, Executive Director of SF Office of Economic & Workforce Development

Building on 14 years of prior civil service with the City and County of San Francisco, Sarah Dennis Phillips is the Executive Director of the Office of Economic and Workforce Development. A trained urban planner, Sarah began her California career in downtown revitalization, working to build thriving downtowns in Mountain View, Livermore, Redwood City, and other northern California cities. Sarah’s service to the City of San Francisco started in 2005, first in the Planning Department before moving to OEWD as Deputy Director of Development. In 2019, Sarah transitioned to the private sector, joining the San Francisco offices of Tishman Speyer, where she led development and placemaking efforts creating urban neighborhoods with high levels of affordability, public space, and transit. Sarah holds degrees in urban planning and design from the University of Virginia and Harvard University. She is a member of SPUR’s San Francisco Board of Directors, serves on the Urban Land Institute’s San Francisco Commercial Advisory Committee, and is a member of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, the Housing Action Coalition, and Lambda Alpha’s Golden Gate chapter.

Loella Haskew

Loella Haskew, Mayor Pro Tem.

Loella Haskew, with a distinguished record of public service, currently serves as Mayor Pro Tem of Walnut Creek, having previously held the role of Mayor in 2016 and 2020. A champion of community involvement, she has contributed to various boards, including the Kennedy-King Memorial College Scholarship Fund and the Diablo Regional Arts Association. Recognized for her contributions as a volunteer soccer referee, Haskew was awarded “Referee of the Year” twice.

Loella earned her Bachelor's in Accounting and Masters in Taxation from Golden Gate University, excelling as summa cum laude. Her professional experience extends to teaching at Golden Gate University, contributing to the CPA exam, and practicing accounting until 2012. Haskew has Walnut Creek roots and a family dedicated to public service, including a son who served in the Army and a daughter-in-law still in service.

Larry Klein

City of Sunnyvale

Larry Klein, Mayor

Sunnyvale Mayor Larry Klein has served as a civic leader in Sunnyvale for more than two decades; first getting involved in the vision to transform Sunnyvale Downtown into a vibrant urban destination which is nearing completion.  He was elected as the last 2-year Council-selected Mayor in the Sunnyvale City Council in 2016. He was elected as the City’s first 4-year directly-elected Mayor in 2020. Prior to being elected to City Council, Mayor Klein served on the Sunnyvale Planning Commission for more than 9 years, as well as served an active member on multiple Sunnyvale non-profit boards and committees.

During COVID, Mayor Klein focused on building community and responding to the ever-changing issues of residents and businesses. At the onset of the pandemic, he initiated the Mayor’s Restaurant Project (EatSunnyvale.COM) and visited as well as promoted over 250 Sunnyvale restaurants, food trucks and markets on social media to encourage residents to support small Sunnyvale businesses.

Mayor Klein worked in the high-tech industry for over 30 years at a variety of companies from telecom to fixed point meter reading, optical routers, power management ICs to battery charging.  This gives him a great perspective to represent Sunnyvale, the “Heart of Silicon Valley.”  He is focused on uplifting everyone’s voice throughout Sunnyvale’s diverse community and improving the quality of life for everyone. 

Sarah Mancuso

Sarah Mancuso, Director, Regional Leasing, JLL

With more than 20 years of industry experience, Sarah Mancuso oversees leasing activities across the Northwest United States at JLL and is responsible for overall strategic growth and direction for tenant representation and agency leasing across all industry verticals. She has been a member of CREW Silicon Valley since 2019, serving on its board of directors as treasurer in 2019 and president in 2022, and is currently the CREW Network Finance Committee chair.
